From the sounds of it the weekend was a good one at Aunties. Like there was any doubt.
There was movies to watch, happy birthday pankcakes to eat, basketball to be played, owl pillows to be sewed, and even a mini cooking contest thrown in the mix.
D & E love to watch "Chopped" on the Food Network. So, my sissy put together a mini cooking contest for the girls. It's fun to hear what happens. Sometimes the creations sound good, sometimes not so good.
This time E & Auntie came up with a good BLT Wrap appetizer. My nephew J called his appetizer, Azteca Ruins. From the judges'(niece K) perspective, the BLT appetizer was the winner.
For the dessert round, D & Auntie came up with some kind of mini cheesecake. E & K made some kind of chocolate bar. For the life of me I can't remember what they said they put in each. I am not sure either was very good.
But, they all claim that the chocolate bar was pretty good. So, that apparently was the winner.
Good thing Uncle D made chicken & dumplings for dinner.
I love hearing the flurry of stories that we are told by everyone when we get to church. Good memories are being made by all.
Here are todays songs from church:
O Amazing
Fortress
One of my favorites from today was O Amazing.
here is a verion of O Amazing done by my nephew J and some of his friends. J is all the way to the right playing guitar.
This afternoon I spent at my friend R's house. Her sister, S is up visiting from Louisianna. My other girlfriends--S, A, & J were there too.
S(R's sister) was very busy re-upholestering R's dining room chairs. We were all there to offer moral support.
I loved watching R & S's rapport when working together. It is strangely quite similar to my relationship with my sissy. Let's just say that the relationship between younger & older sisters seems to be universal.
I really wanted to see S's technique. I have a few chairs that I am wanting to re-upholster myself. I think I am now ready to get started on my own chairs. What I have realized that I need is an electric staple gun.
Can't wait to get started.
potd #41. Meet Charlie the cat. He is R's kitty. He is my mascot for 2012, also known as The Year of the Cat. Explanation to come tomorrow.
The chocolate bar was not the winner. The mini cheesecakes were the winner. Because we put a candle on it. It was fancy.
ReplyDeleteI am so putting a candle on every dessert from now on....just to make it fancy!
