No Sunday Songs this week.
With our late night last night, we decided to sleep in this morning. That was a good thing.
As they have gotten older, D&E handle the time change much better than when they were babies.
But, depending on what we've done the night before it can still mess with them a bit.
And today it was a good thing to sleep in and not have to rush to get to church.
But, D was definitely on edge all day. She's my moody one. Lord help me when she's a teenager.
It ain't gonna be pretty.
E is the easy going one, for the most part. She bounces back a bit better than her sister.
We have also learned that D needs to have a full belly or else the level of cranky just about triples, if not quadruples.
Right before lunch, she was miserable.
Then she ate.
And she was a different kid. She was happy and singing again.
We have always joked that we have to feed "the beast". And I call D "the beast" in the most loving sense. Really.
This afternoon we decided to take the girls to an indoor rock climbing gym a couple towns over.
Once we got all set they had a blast. They can't wait to go back again. Especially E. She's my more adventurous one.
E getting started. Learning as she goes where best to place her hands and feet.
D getting up there. The more she climbing she did, the more confident she became. She was extremely cautious at first.
And was getting frustrated that she wasn't awesome at it from the start. Nope, no OCD type A personality for her. HA!
The gym is pretty incredible. It is built inside a warehouse in an industrial park. Some of the guys working & the teenager customers would just climb up the walls so quick.
And go upside down. Very cool. So not for me!
Going to have to watch out for E. She may just give me a panic attack with her adventurous spirit. She already talks about wanting to learn to parachute & jump out of planes.
I've already told her no way Jose. At least not until she's 18 and maybe not even then. My heart is palpitating just typing about it right now. Eek.
Had to use my flash to get this shot of D. She is in an alcove under one of the climbing walls. Doing some climbing of her own. Almost upside down. She was very proud of herself.
I was ok because she was only about 3 feet off the ground.
After an hour or so of climbing, we went home.
Everybody was pooped. Including Hubby, who did a little climbing of his own. He said it was a great upper body workout. Used muscles he didn't know he had.
Including muscles in his feet. Apparently when you are trying to grip the holds with your feet, you are definitely using lots of foot muscles. Clever.
Plans are definitely being made for them to go back. Next time they want to be able to use the ropes and harnesses. Hubby needs to take a safety class so the girls can use the ropes and harnesses.
Then they can go higher.
Hmmmm.
I don't think I will be going with them on that visit. Some things are better for a mother not to see.
potd #69. I love this picture of the 3 of them. E getting her climbing going and D leaning on Hubby. I know from her nevousness, the lean from D is her way of looking for reassurance. That all would be ok. And it was. And she had fun.
