Gingerbread Baking

Today was the day that Sissy & I baked the pieces for our gingerbread houses.

Years and years ago, we would bake and decorate all in the same day.

That was long before the girls came along.

And it was fun, but a long day.

So we got smart.

We decided to do the baking on one day and the decorating another day.

That works wonderfully.

So, today was baking day.

Sissy & I have a great system.

I make & roll out the dough on the cookie sheets.

She cuts out the pieces using our pattern.

Seamless operation.

There is always some dough leftover after we have all our pieces cut & baked.

The last couple years we have made gingerbread stick cookies.

They are yummy.

D&E love them.

Here are the sticks all baked.

Yum.

Saturday is the day we have set aside to decorate the houses.

Sissy and I will do the assembling.

And then our girls will do the decorating.

My niece K has been decorating for a long time now.

D&E have been decorating their own houses the last 2 years.

They are getting pretty good at it.

And we always have more candy than we could ever use.

But that's ok.

It's fun to snack on the candy while we decorate.

I love that we are making these memories together.

This is D or Es' house from a couple years ago.

So much fun.

It's a great way to kick off the holiday season.

Can't wait til Saturday.
