Holiday Road

We started a bit of an adventure today.

We are venturing out to Wisconsin to attend the wedding of one of Hubbys' cousins on his dads' side.

We got up at o'dark thirty today.

Thank goodness there is a Dunkin' Donuts near the house.

That coffee was much needed.

And off we went.

The girls were great travelers.  The tvs we have also help the cause.

In planning the trip, Hubby & I decided to make a stop at Niagara Falls.

It was only a bit out of our way, but so worth the trip.

The falls were quite impressive.

Behind D&E are the rapids that start before the water heads over the Falls.

The mist behind them is from the Falls.

This is a close-up of the rapids.  Let's just say this water is moving fast.  Very fast.

It is just amazing to watch the water head over the edge.

Before we got to the Falls, we were telling the girls about how there have been people that have tried to go over the Falls in barrels.

E was not impressed.  She couldn't understand what the big deal was about that.

Once she saw how fast the rapids were moving and how fast the water went over the edge, she changed her tune.

Never mind how tall the Falls are, that was definitely a sight to see.

It was a hot day today.  The mist that came up from the Falls felt good.

Although, I can't imagine how cold it must be in the winter.  Brrrrrrr.

The tall buildings on the other side are in Canada.  Very cool to be able to be on one side in the U.S. and see Canada on the other side of the river.

Can you believe that by this time of the day we started to figure out that D is at the beginning of a head cold?

She was a trooper today.  Although by the time we got to our hotel tonight, she couldn't wait to get into her pajamas.

Hoping that a good nights' sleep will do her good.

It is so nice to get away as a family.  We are looking forward to the next part of our adventure tomorrow.

Heading to Chicago.  It's a great city.

It's also nice to know that we can get away and leave Lucy and the house in the very capable hands of my nephew J.

According to J, Lucy was very happy to see him this afternoon.  Which is good to hear since she looked quite dejected when we left her this morning.

potd #181.  I loved our pit stop to see Niagara Falls today.  They are amazing to see in person.  Pictures really don't do them justice.
