Hubby plays guitar.
He plays a lot.
He would play just about every night when I was pregnant with D&E.
It's actually how he convinced me on Ds' name.
Hubby also plays mostly by ear. He can read music a bit. But only a bit.
D also has an amazing ear for music.
She can hear a song and go to the piano and start to play a few notes of whatever song she is hearing or thinking of at that moment.
Now she seems to be doing that with the oboe.
She has plunked out bits of Yankee Doodle, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Charlie Browns' Theme Song, The Star Spangled Banner, and Red Solo Cup.
She blows me away. Because I am so not musical.
Always wished I could play or had taken lessons as a kid.
Guess it's never too late to start. Put it on my bucket list.
E has her own musical talent.
While she doesn't play by ear, she is such a good practicer.
And she gets so proud of herself when she accomplishes playing a song she has had a tough time with.
Tonight was a night where there was music all around our house.
At one point tonight at our house, E was practicing piano on the main floor of the house, Hubby was playing his electric guitar down in the basement, and D was upstairs in her room practicing her oboe.
Now that's a lot of music being played in a house.
And after all that music was played in our house, we even listened to music in the shower.
That's a fun time to introduce new music to the girls.
Tonight it was a little Norah Jones(a staple during shower time), Edie Brickell, and Israel Kamakawiwo'ole.
Music. It's a good thing.
potd #274. The girls & I went to Barnes & Noble today after school. I let them pick out some new books for our trip to Arizona. Good plane reading. Happy girls, happy mom.
