The Once Over

D&E had softball practice tonight.

I took my camera.  Intending to get a picture.  Or 2 or 20.

And then I started chatting with another mom and completely forgot about taking any pictures.

Oh well.

And then we got home from practice.

The girls had a little dessert.  And then they both needed to practice piano and their math facts.

And I was cold.  From standing outside at practice.

Side note:  is it ever going to warm up this spring or are we going to head straight to hot and humid weather?

Anyhoo,  I was cold.  So I made myself a cup of pumpkin spice latte.  Super yum.

This was just what I needed to warm up tonight.

A few minutes into my pumpkin spice latte, I realized that I hadn't taken a picture yet today.

Yikes.

And I was losing daylight in the kitchen.  I am not a fan of using my flash, so I try to take all my pics using natural light.

So, to the light I go and call Lucy over to me.  She was my victim tonight since the girls are busy.  In places where there is no natural light.

As soon as Lucy comes to me, she starts to sniff my left leg.

A lot.

And that's when I remember the Golden Retriever I saw at practice.  And pet.  And who decided to sit down and lean up against me.  Happily against my left leg.

And so Lucy sniffed me.

More. And more.

Giving me the once over.  Smelling the smell of another dog.  

I don't think there was an inch of my leg that Lucy didn't smell.

It kept her busy for a few minutes.

Smelling and smelling.

Here she is looking at me.  As if she is saying, "Why did you pet that other dog?"
